After Wanwan opened the entrance to the Demon Realm, Ye Kai hurriedly fled inside. More precisely, it was the border between the Human Realm and the Demon Realm—a chaotic region mostly inhabited by demonic cultivators and eccentric rogue cultivators.
At that moment, Ye Kai’s face still showed the terror of narrowly escaping from Yuehua. His legs had been twisted like braids, and he could only walk by relying on demonic energy to support himself. Even so, each step sent heart-wrenching pain through his body, leaving a long trail of blood behind him.
“That lunatic… Yuehua really is a madwoman,” Ye Kai muttered in regret. Why hadn’t he finished her off when he had the chance? He had barely enjoyed a few days of peace before ending up with both legs and one arm twisted, and the other hand torn off completely. Fortunately, he wasn’t an ordinary person. He could absorb the cultivation of others to recover his body.
Wanwan sneered, “This has nothing to do with whether you killed Yuehua or not. You were the one who acted foolishly—revealing so many truths to her, deepening her obsession and hatred. And then, in front of her, you dragged over the female disciples of Qingzhu Peak to perform all kinds of lewd shows, torturing them to death in the end. Even if you had killed her afterward, her obsession would have still merged with the demonic seed in her corpse and turned her into a demon. In the end, you brought this all upon yourself.”
Ye Kai’s expression darkened. Though he was filled with resentment, he didn’t dare argue with Wanwan. He could only force a smile and say, “Wanwan, I know I was wrong.”
Forcing open the gateway to the Demon Realm had taken its toll, and Wanwan now seemed tired. “Heal your injuries on your own. I’m going to rest for a while. Don’t disturb me.” Once she fell into a deep sleep, Ye Kai spent the next few days capturing passing cultivators to restore his body and reattach his severed arm. As soon as he was well again, he returned to his usual depravity—finding female cultivators to “reward” himself with.
But Yuehua had no intention of letting him go.
As Wanwan sensed Yuehua’s aura drawing closer, she immediately awoke. She wanted to warn Ye Kai, but all she could hear were obscene, indecent sounds.
Infuriated, Wanwan sneered, “Looks like you really don’t want to live anymore—still thinking about pleasure at a time like this. Your master will be coming at you with a blade any moment now.”
Ye Kai, mid-pleasure, instantly snapped back to his senses. His mind gradually cleared from the fog of desire. He shoved the woman beneath him away and said nervously, “How did that crazy woman find us?!”
This place was the border of the Demon Realm, separated from the Central Realm by two layers of dimensional barriers. Besides, he hadn’t seen Yuehua cast any tracking spell on him during their last encounter.
“You’re her strongest obsession now,” Wanwan replied coldly. “A big part of that is because you became a demon. Why is it so strange that she can find you?”
Just as Wanwan’s voice fell, waves of miserable screams echoed from all around—demon cultivators Yuehua slaughtered on her way here.
“Damn it, she’s already here!” Ye Kai cursed.
He caught sight of her figure in the distance, but before he could even attempt to flee, Yuehua appeared and blocked his path.
“You deserve to die,” she said coldly, her voice devoid of any emotion. The demonic aura around her was even more terrifying than before.
“What do I do, Wanwan?!” Ye Kai cried out in panic.
Ye Kai looked at the current Yuehua, and his legs trembled involuntarily. The torment he’d suffered not long ago was still vivid in his memory. He was truly terrified—terrified of this demonified Yuehua.
Wanwan snapped, “Still asking what to do? Just keep getting beaten up, I guess.”
Desperate, Ye Kai asked, “Can’t you just send me straight into the Demon Realm?” He still believed that with so many demon cultivators and true demons in that realm, surely someone would be strong enough to suppress Yuehua.
“No,” Wanwan replied.
Inside the Demon Realm, once she returned to her true form, there were still many unresolved matters waiting for her. Taking Ye Kai there now would cause unnecessary trouble. More importantly, if her aunt Yan Ruyu found out that she’d been idling in the Human Realm and venting on a random human enemy for fun, it would be far worse than just a scolding. Just the thought of Yan Ruyu’s methods made Wanwan uneasy. Her current behavior had already broken the rules.
Originally, her plan was only to guide Ye Kai into dealing with Lin Mo. But recently, she’d taken direct action against Lin Mo herself multiple times.
It was like two parents letting their kids quarrel—as long as they didn’t interfere, no matter how serious the conflict got, it remained a matter between children. But if one parent started disciplining the other’s child, it changed everything.
She only wanted to prove she was better than her aunt, maybe see her suffer a little defeat. She wasn’t ready to risk her life just to prove a point. But ultimately, it was all Ye Kai’s fault. That brain of his was fit for nothing but eating shit—she really couldn’t tolerate him anymore.
If she hadn’t stepped in and injected her carefully cultivated demon pearl into Lin Mo’s body, Lin Mo’s demonic aura wouldn’t have been exposed. There was no way Ye Kai could have defeated him otherwise. Just thinking about how that precious demon pearl had been given to Lin Mo for free made her heart ache.
“Why not?” Ye Kai pressed, his tone growing sharper.
“When I say no, it means no,” Wanwan replied coldly. “Do you have a problem with that?” She was clearly angry now. Compared to Ye Kai’s worthless life, she didn’t care about the consequences.
“You’d better understand your place,” she added icily. “Without me, you’re nothing—still that useless failure who can only roar in frustration.”
Ye Kai’s whole body burned with anger. He even had the urge to force himself on Wanwan out of spite. But remembering he still needed her help, he pushed the fury down. Forcing a calm tone, he said, “Wanwan, I was out of line. What should I do now?”
Wanwan saw right through him. She found it laughable—that was the biggest difference between humans and demons. Humans always clung to impossible fantasies in their hearts, and people like Ye Kai eventually became nourishment for demons.
“Keep dragging it out,” she said perfunctorily. “Once I open another path for you elsewhere, we’ll deal with it then.”
But right after that, Ye Kai’s barely recovered body was once again twisted by Yuehua into a mangled mess. His limbs were crushed into spirals, the pain excruciating. And this time, Yuehua gouged out one of his eyeballs as well.
When Wanwan finally opened another portal, Ye Kai had no chance to retrieve his gouged-out eyeball. In a panic, he fled once again.
Seeing him escape, Yuehua simply uttered the same two words: “Slay demon.”
But this time, after speaking, she tilted her head and began pondering something new. “An arm, an eye… what should I take next time?”
The longer she remained in her demonic state, the more she evolved. At first, she was acting on pure instinct, completely unconscious. But over time, a new awareness began to form—a distinct personality born out of her demonic transformation. And that personality was slowly maturing with each passing day.
Two months earlier—on Lin Mo’s timeline.
At the outskirts of the Demon Realm, Lin Mo had encountered several demon cultivators intent on robbing and killing him. After collecting Regret Points from them, he naturally proceeded deeper into the Demon Realm to continue grinding monsters and leveling up.
He relied on the demonic energy that Wanwan had implanted into his body when she once tried to frame him. With its help, he had broken through to the late-stage Nascent Soul realm. After that, he requested Mo Pao’er to take him deeper into the Demon Realm.
Mo Pao’er led Lin Mo to the edge of a deep, bottomless abyss and stopped. “Lord Mo, down there—that’s one of the entrances to the Demon Realm.”
“Only demon cultivators and true demons can pass through that barrier and enter the realm,” Mo Pao’er explained.
Lin Mo peered down at the abyss that looked like the gates of hell. “What if someone isn’t a demon or a demonic cultivator?”
Mo Pao’er chuckled. “Then they fall straight into the abyss. Rumor has it there’s a mysterious power below that seals away one’s cultivation.”
“I’m off now, see ya!” he added, and without hesitation, jumped into the abyss.
Lin Mo watched as Mo Pao’er’s figure disappeared. He figured he must have passed through the barrier and entered the Demon Realm.
On the other side, Mo Pao’er, now safely within the Demon Realm, pulled out the pills Lin Mo had given earlier and weighed them in his hand. “A cultivator trying to enter the Demon Realm? What an idiot.”
Just as he finished speaking, a hand landed on his shoulder.
“Who are you calling an idiot?”
Mo Pao’er spun around and found himself face-to-face with Lin Mo’s smiling face. He staggered back in shock. “Y-You… how did you get in here?”
“Same as you,” Lin Mo replied. “I jumped.”
“How’s that possible?” Mo Pao’er asked, shaken.
In all the centuries he’d lived, he had never heard of anyone other than demons and demon cultivators managing to enter the Demon Realm—unless they broke through the barrier with brute force, which had only been accomplished once, a hundred years ago, by some nameless rogue cultivator who sealed away a great demon elder.
This man before him, while strong, was only at the Nascent Soul stage. Still, he had made it in.
“Enough talk,” Lin Mo said. “You took my stuff, now it’s time to do your job. Help me get familiar with the Demon Realm.”
Mo Pao’er bowed and nodded repeatedly. He began introducing Lin Mo to the inner workings of the realm.
The Demon Realm was divided and occupied by three major clans: Baili, Qianchi, and Meiyan.
In this world, demon cultivators held lower status than true demons. In fact, demon cultivators could only survive here by depending on true demons.
A hundred years ago, before Chu Tiange, the Demon Patriarch, was sealed away, all the demon clans in the Demon Realm followed his command. But ever since the three great demon clans lost their unified ruler, each has gone its own way. Their relationships have steadily deteriorated and become increasingly hostile.
Currently, Lin Mo found himself in the territory of the Qianchi Clan. He began observing his surroundings carefully, preparing for what came next.
The surroundings felt more or less the same as the human realm. The only noticeable difference was the sky—it was dim and shrouded in a reddish haze. However, the plants growing around him were entirely unfamiliar to Lin Mo.
After walking for only a short while, Lin Mo realized that none of the demon cultivators or demons in the area paid him any attention. On closer thought, that wasn’t surprising. After all, who would ever expect a human cultivator to appear in the Demon Realm?
As long as Lin Mo didn’t use spiritual power, everyone around would simply treat him as one of their own. In fact, that wasn’t entirely wrong—he did possess half the bloodline of the demon race, making him, in a way, half kin to them.
