V2 Chapter 31: Yanyan, do you feel like having some barbecue?

“Neither of you is leaving today.”

Looking at the monsters blocking the road ahead, Lin Mo shook his head in amusement.

And here he’d thought the Yao clan would be different from humans. They always said humans were insidious and treacherous.

How were these things in front of him any different from those human scum?

Qu Ruyan looked at the Devouring Clan’s chief with a face of pure innocence. “Grandpa, are you just reluctant to part with me?”

The Devouring Clan chief followed her lead and nodded. “Of course Grandpa can’t bear to part with you.”

As he spoke, he beckoned to her. “Yanyan, come to Grandpa.”

Qu Ruyan shook her head. “Nope, I’m going with Senior Brother.”

“And Senior Brother said you’re a bad old candy geezer and I shouldn’t believe a word you say. Hmph!”

As she spoke, Qu Ruyan stuck her tongue out and made a face at the Devouring Clan chief.

The chief’s face went dark. He snapped, furious, “You impudent little beast, we’re not even that close!”

Qu Ruyan still wore that same innocent look as she giggled. “I’m a little beast, sure—but does that make Grandpa Tun an old beast?”

Off to the side, Lin Mo gave his own spirit pet a big thumbs-up.

His adorable pet Qu Ruyan’s combat power had gone up again.

Her ability to piss people off without lifting a finger was truly reaching the realm of perfection.

The young clan leader of the Lihu Tiger Clan said, “Chief Tun, what are you dawdling for? Just take them down.”

“Let’s stick to what we said before: Yanyan marries me as a concubine, and any children she bears will be handed over to your Devouring Clan.”

“But…”

The young Lihu clan leader’s gaze kept roaming over Lin Mo, up and down, without the slightest attempt to hide his filthy, lewd intent.

“If you help me take down this senior sister of Yanyan’s as well, my Lihu Tiger Clan will still provide your Devouring Clan with a hundred thousand jin of high‑grade beast meat every month.”

“Meow—!”

With a ripping snarl, a surge of powerful demonic qi exploded around Lin Mo.

He turned his head and saw that his spirit pet had already returned to her true demon form.

Compared to when they’d parted, her body was several times larger now. Those big round eyes glared viciously at the young Lihu clan leader.

Lin Mo’s slender, fair hand gently rubbed Qu Ruyan’s head. “Easy. We’re idle anyway, might as well chat with them a bit.”

Qu Ruyan was very obedient to Lin Mo. After rubbing her head against her master’s hand, she forced down the urge to bite the Lihu clan’s young leader to death on the spot.

Having listened to the exchange between the Devouring Clan chief and the Lihu Tiger Clan’s young leader, Kun Yu’s face had also gone dark. “With what you two clans are doing now, are you planning to start a war with my Kunpeng clan?”

They were disturbing his goddess. That he really couldn’t tolerate.

Besides, the Kunpeng clan had already more or less submitted completely to Lin Mo. They just hadn’t held the formal submission ceremony yet.

The Devouring Clan chief said disdainfully, “And what is your Kunpeng clan supposed to be? You’re nothing but the Demon Realm’s watchdogs, yet you really think you’re something?”

“Kunpeng dogs”—those words made Kun Yu snap.

Vast demonic qi poured out of him, surging outward. For a moment, he actually had the momentum of one man facing many.

Lin Mo couldn’t help praising him. “Facing this many Nascent Soul‑stage demon cultivators without fear—you’ve got some guts.”

“You—you dare call our Kunpeng clan dogs?!”

The next instant, Kun Yu roared, “We’re clearly birds!”

Lin Mo pressed a hand to his forehead. That’s what you’re mad about? Really? What a stupid bird.

“And you’re not afraid our Kunpeng clan will go complain to the Demon Lord about this?”

“Demon Lord?” The Devouring Clan chief laughed. “The Demon Lord doesn’t have time to bother with your clan’s little issues.”

“Besides, we’re just dealing with a mutt that snuck into the Demon Realm and signed a contract with a human.”

Kun Yu was at a loss for words.

The fact that Qu Ruyan had a contract with a human inside her was true. The Demon Realm had clear rules: any demon found in that situation could be freely disposed of.

Kun Yu seemed to come to some major decision. “Young Master, I’ll hold them off here. You head toward the Kunpeng clan’s territory. Once you reach our lands, my mother will protect you—they won’t dare act recklessly there.”

Lin Mo couldn’t help but look at Kun Yu in a new light. “Can you hold them?”

The kid was stupid and lecherous, but as a person, he really wasn’t bad.

Kun Yu thumped his chest. “Don’t worry. You just run. I definitely can’t beat them, but stalling for time won’t be a problem.”

Lin Mo reached out and patted Kun Yu’s shoulder in encouragement. “Then do your best.”

With that, he vaulted onto Qu Ruyan’s back.

“Yanyan, let’s go.”

Qu Ruyan shot forward like a bolt, her feet as if riding on wind‑and‑fire wheels, sprinting away at top speed.

At the same time, screams started ringing out behind Lin Mo.

In just a few blinks, a huge bird flapped its wings for dear life and, in an instant, flew past him to the front.

“Young Master, I can’t beat them, I can’t beat them, let’s run!”

Lin Mo was speechless. “Didn’t you say you could hold them off?”

Kun Yu shouted, “I already used all my strength and held for three seconds!”

Lin Mo said with open contempt, “I thought you were strong. Even that brute could at least last five seconds. You only managed three?”

“That’s really short.”

“You’re the type who’s done the moment your pants come off.”

Stung by Lin Mo’s taunts, Kun Yu suddenly stopped in midair.

Being told he was no good by his goddess was just too humiliating.

He immediately chose to turn back.

Behind them, the Devouring Clan chief and the Lihu Tiger Clan’s young leader were both dumbfounded.

“This brat—he actually turned around and came back?”

Kun Yu shouted, “I want to last another ten seconds—at least long enough to get my pants all the way off and get it in for a taste!”

“Even if he’s short, you’ve at least got to go through the whole process, right?”

The Devouring Clan chief and the Lihu clan’s young leader exchanged a look.

“What the hell is this stupid bird babbling about?”

“Who cares? Just beat him.”

They didn’t dare go for the kill against Kun Yu—after all, he was the young clan leader of the Kunpeng clan.

If they actually killed him and the Demon Lord decided to pursue it, their two clans really would be in serious trouble.

But as long as they didn’t take his life, anything else was fair game.

Before long, Kun Yu’s screams were echoing nonstop.

“N‑no, not there!”

“That’s my second bird, stop hitting it!”

Watching from a distance, Lin Mo really couldn’t stand it anymore.

Just as Kun Yu’s “second bird” was about to be destroyed, he finally chose to make a move.

A ball of blazing flame exploded between Kun Yu and the Devouring Clan chief.

A moment later, it surged up into a massive wall of fire, cutting the two sides apart.

Kun Yu gasped for breath like a man who’d just escaped death.

The Devouring Clan chief stopped the young Lihu clan leader, who’d been about to leap over the flames. “Don’t. That’s no ordinary fire.”

“You’ve got some eye, Old Bi.”

On the other side of the fire wall, Lin Mo looked down at them from above.

“The roads in the Demon Realm are so wide and easy to walk, but you just had to squeeze yourselves into a dead‑end alley.”

He turned to his spirit pet at his side. “Yanyan, feel like having some roast meat?”
