V1 Chapter 52: I Forgot, What Can You Do About It?

Guzi noticed something strange about his Senior Brother Lin Mo.
Recently, many of the peak flowers had been coming to visit.

But every time, his Senior Brother would either turn them away at the door or find various excuses to send them off.

Although Guzi had never been in a relationship, he had spent enough time in the outer sect to understand a thing or two.

He may not have eaten pork, but at least he’d seen pigs run, right?

He could tell that every time those eager peak flowers came, their faces full of expectation, and then, upon meeting his Senior Brother, they turned shy and left with disappointment after being rejected or sent away. That was… affection.

They all liked his Senior Brother!

Clearly, his Senior Brother was so popular, so why didn’t he seem to have any intention of finding a partner?

It wasn’t until recently, when he was cleaning up the mud pile near his Senior Brother’s courtyard, that he noticed a familiar, foul smell. Following the smell, he found a pair of socks. The plants around it had already withered.

Even though the socks were dirty beyond recognition, he could still tell that these were the socks he had lost a long time ago.

He had searched for them for a long time back then, angrily cursing whoever had taken them.

Who would’ve thought that today, he would find them in his Senior Brother’s courtyard?

Putting two and two together, an outrageous thought suddenly crossed his mind.

‘Could it be that his Senior Brother has some strange fetish?’

This thought gradually expanded as he remembered how gentle Lin Mo had been toward him recently, always teaching him patiently and offering him various benefits.

Lin Mo was in a good mood today because he had won a very nice item in a random draw.

That item was Yin Ning Grass.

The original owner had quite a bit of experience and had memorized many alchemy recipes.

This Yin Ning Grass was the main ingredient for the fifth-grade Longevity Pill.

Pills were graded from one to nine, in reverse order to the cultivation levels.

Grade one was the lowest, and grade nine was the highest.

Among all the pills, the rarest ones were not those that increased cultivation speed, but rather longevity pills.

The materials required for a longevity pill were incredibly rare, and just a first-grade one, which could extend a person’s life by one year, would auction for tens of thousands of spirit stones.

Rumor had it that a fourth-grade longevity pill could increase life by thirty years and would auction for over a million spirit stones.

The more pills of the same type a person consumes, the weaker the effect becomes. For longevity pills, a person could take a maximum of three, after which they would no longer be effective.

Of course, some people with special constitutions for alchemy could consume more pills with the same effect.

Fortunately, Lin Mo’s alchemy skills were already very advanced, so he had no trouble refining the fifth-grade Longevity Pill.

Feeling good, he saw Guzi cleaning nearby and walked over to ask with concern, “Guzi, is there anything about your cultivation recently that you don’t understand?”

“Ah…” Guzi was startled by Lin Mo’s gentle tone and kind smile, and he accidentally dropped the broom.

Clearly, his Senior Brother was cold and indifferent to the group of peak flowers, never smiling, but now he was smiling at him so gently.

For a moment, Guzi was even more certain that Lin Mo had some strange fetish.

“What’s wrong?” Seeing Guzi in a panic, Lin Mo picked up the broom and handed it to him.

“Thank you, Senior Brother!” Guzi took the broom, but he didn’t dare to look Lin Mo in the eye. He lowered his head and said nervously, “Lately… I don’t have any questions regarding my cultivation…”

“Then is your body unwell?” Noticing the sweat on Guzi’s forehead, Lin Mo asked, “If you’re not feeling well, you don’t need to clean today. Go rest instead.”

“Okay, Senior Brother!” Guzi was so nervous that he didn’t know how to face Lin Mo. He grabbed the broom and hurriedly ran back to his room.

“Why is this child acting so strange today?”

Lin Mo, who had been mistaken for having some strange fetish, shook his head and mounted his sword to head to Yunxi City to buy some alchemy materials.

Before he left, he put on the white robe he had purchased earlier.

Looking at his reflection in the mirror, dressed in the pure white robe, his transcendent aura was in full display. Lin Mo nodded in satisfaction.

The original owner’s appearance was truly not bad.

He looked like a novel protagonist.

It was just a pity that the original owner never bothered to pick out a good set of clothes for himself.

As soon as Lin Mo arrived in Yunxi City, he could feel the intense gazes on him.

When he turned around, he saw many young women sneaking glances at him.

He entered the Treasure Pavilion, and as soon as Xiao Zi saw him, her eyes sparkled. She carefully examined him for a moment.

Lin Mo, walking toward her, looked as picturesque as a painting. His white robe perfectly complemented his cold and refined temperament.

“As expected, Young Master Lin looks absolutely stunning in this robe. I bet many young ladies passing by were utterly mesmerized, weren’t they?”

Xiao Zi crossed her left arm in front of her, resting her right elbow on it while tapping her chin with her fingers, smiling as she asked, “Are you here to buy or sell today?”

Lin Mo recalled the ingredients listed in the pill recipe and replied to Xiao Zi, “Do you have Snow Jade Bone Ginseng and Bitter Vine?”

“Young Master Lin, you know alchemy?” Xiao Zi looked at him in surprise.

“I know a little,” Lin Mo responded indifferently.

“Those two ingredients are used in refining fourth-grade and above pills. You’re being quite modest, Young Master Lin.”

“How much do you need?”

Lin Mo reported the required quantity.

Xiao Zi smiled and retrieved the items. “That will be six hundred thousand spirit stones in total.”

After completing the transaction, Lin Mo remembered that he still didn’t have a proper alchemy furnace.

“If you’re looking for an alchemy furnace, considering the quality of the pills you refine, I don’t have a suitable one in stock right now.”

No alchemy furnace? How was he supposed to refine pills without one?

Seeing Lin Mo’s slight disappointment, Xiao Zi quickly added, “The Treasure Pavilion in Baidi City will be holding its once-in-a-decade auction soon. Young Master Lin, you might find a suitable alchemy furnace there.”

Lin Mo noted the date and bid farewell to Xiao Zi.

Not long after returning to his courtyard at Qingzhu Peak, Ye Kai came looking for him.

Seeing Lin Mo in his new attire, looking even more handsome than before, Ye Kai felt a sense of crisis rising in his heart.

Still, he got straight to the point.

“Senior Brother Lin, I have transported all the spiritual soil from around the spirit spring a hundred miles away to the rear mountain’s spirit fields. Please inspect it.”

Ye Kai was covered in dirt, panting heavily as he spoke.

Lin Mo didn’t say much and went straight to the rear mountain to check.

Noticing a few acres of burnt soil in the corner of the spirit fields, he casually asked, “What’s going on over there?”

Ye Kai’s tone carried a hint of impatience. “That’s all the spirit soil from around the spirit spring!”

Lin Mo didn’t immediately assume that Ye Kai had been slacking off because of those few acres.

Instead, a faint smile appeared on his lips. “You’ve worked hard, Junior Brother Ye. Let me handle those few acres for you.”

Handle? How?

Did Lin Mo actually have such a kind heart that he would personally make multiple trips elsewhere just to retrieve soil for those few acres?

Just as Ye Kai was wondering, Lin Mo cast a spell, replacing the transported spirit soil before walking over to the few burned acres.

A few more spells later, and in no time, the charred land was rejuvenated, brimming with spiritual energy once more.

Lin Mo’s farming skill was already nearing level six.

Restoring spirit fields using his own spiritual energy was no problem at all.

But this scene left Ye Kai utterly dumbfounded.

He questioned Lin Mo, “Senior Brother Lin, you clearly didn’t need to replace the soil to restore the fields. So why did you make me transport all that soil from a hundred miles away?”

Lin Mo shrugged and gave a deliberately apologetic smile. “Ah, I forgot. But surely Junior Brother Ye wouldn’t be so petty as to blame me, right?”

That attitude—he hadn’t forgotten at all. He was clearly toying with him.

Ye Kai was burning with rage inside, but he couldn’t show it. Clenching his teeth, he forced out each word, “Of course not!”

“Since that’s the case, then I must trouble Junior Brother Ye to transport the burnt soil back to the spirit spring so it doesn’t contaminate the freshly replaced soil.”

“Why didn’t you tell me this when you first had me transport the soil?” Ye Kai’s voice trembled with barely contained anger. But now wasn’t the time to flip out. He had to endure it. He had to maintain his image.

“Oh… I forgot again!”

Watching Lin Mo’s leisurely, white-robed figure disappear into the distance, Ye Kai’s eyes turned bloodshot with fury, yet he could do nothing about it.
