After Ye Kai had been tormented, Lin Mo even thought it might be amusing to hand his soul over to Shen Ke’er, so that she could settle her personal grudge and continue torturing him. Soon after, a scene unfolded of Ye Kai drugging Yuehua and stealing away all of her cultivation. Lin Mo sneered coldly: “Ah, Master, so this is the end you reached—dying here, because you unconditionally trusted your disciple to be good.”
What a pity—it’s far too soon. I hadn’t even returned to the Human Realm to harvest from Yuehua the regret value I needed before Ye Kai ended up killing her. Yet just as Lin Mo believed this was the conclusion, the vision twisted again. His eyes widened in shock. Could Yuehua, in just a single thought, have become a demon? Her strength surged, and she brutally tormented Ye Kai several times, loudly declaring it was all “for him.” She even stripped away Ye Kai’s voice and various parts of his body. Wanwan, watching from within, was shaken to her core.
Truly f***ing defying the heavens. With all that filth on Ye Kai’s body, what more could he even dare to do? Best not to get involved with him—right now, they really had nothing to do with him. No wonder Ye Kai was so vile, no wonder he carried the taint of the Demon Realm—the problem lay there. Yet why didn’t Yuehua pursue the slaughter further into the Demon Realm? Lin Mo, weary of Ye Kai’s memories of that place, didn’t bother looking deeper. Instead, he thought of visiting the Human Realm, suspecting the Lin family’s situation there was not good. In his heart he only hoped Ye Kai could hold on a little longer—and not end up dying in Yuehua’s hands.
Yuehua herself never stepped into the Demon Realm. Instead, she lingered at its border with the Human Realm, cutting down demonic cultivators by the thousands. She did not know why, but some deep, nameless fear stopped her from entering. Even now, though she had become a demon, though she hated the Demon Realm and its spawn, the shadow of having been captured there as a child still haunted her. At last, she sensed Ye Kai’s aura once more. Ye Kai, who had just escaped the Demon Realm, returned to the Central Realm, uneasily aware that the madwoman Yuehua would soon be on his trail again. Fortunately, Wanwan had once taught him how to conceal his demonic aura. Even so, as soon as he neared the grounds of Qingling Sect, Yuehua appeared before him.
“Ye Kai—I’ve found you,” she said lightly, her voice airy and soft. Ye Kai’s whole body shuddered. “Crazy woman! You really are insane. Do you seriously have nothing better to do than chase me every single day?” Yuehua only smiled, her eyes glinting with excitement. “Of course I do. While you were running away, I slaughtered every last demonic cultivator at the border between the Human Realm and the Demon Realm.”
The words made Ye Kai’s heart tremble. That border had been home to tens of thousands of demonic cultivators, including many rogue experts at the Soul Splitting Stage. Yet Yuehua had killed them all. Even he had never cut down so many. As expected—this woman truly had gone completely insane.
“Well then, let me think… today, what shall I take from your body, and later leave for Mo’er?” Yuehua tilted her head, as if she were seriously considering it.
Inside, Ye Kai couldn’t help but roar in frustration. This crazy woman hadn’t even spared his balls. Did she have any idea how he had lived through this time? Every time he took something from others, he indulged himself, as though sharing his happiness with them. And now, the only remaining half of his Spirit Fang had been shattered by Lin Mo.
If he wanted to have descendants in the future, would they even still be his own? Thinking of this, Ye Kai felt as if his head were painted entirely green. And now this crazy woman Yuehua—what else did she still want to take?
“It seems there isn’t much left I can take…” she mused.
Hearing this, Ye Kai let out a breath of relief.
“Since there’s nothing left worth taking, I’ll just have to chop you into 365 pieces and use you to nourish my infant soul every day.” Yuehua seemed to think this decision was absolutely wonderful, and laughed happily.
Ye Kai could no longer withstand it. This crazy woman’s way of thinking had already gone far beyond the bounds of humanity. Seeing that Qingling Sect was not far ahead, he thought that if he could get its experts to hold Yuehua back, he might still have a sliver of life left. He even dared to hope that the righteous cultivators could use this chance to eliminate her completely. After all, Yuehua by now was already a demoness whose infamy resounded throughout the entire cultivation world. No matter how strong she was, could she really stand against them all? With this thought, Ye Kai ran desperately toward the sect.
Behind him, Yuehua was slicing pieces of flesh from his back, one chunk after another. By the time they reached the grounds of Qingling Sect, half of Ye Kai’s back was gone, exposing his white bones within—an utterly horrifying sight.
“Peak masters of Qingling Sect, save me! The demoness has come to slaughter us!” Ye Kai’s desperate cry echoed out. Using the last of his strength, he spread his voice across every corner of Qingling Sect. And just as the peak masters of Qingling Sect rushed onto the scene—
The ten peak masters gathered, and upon seeing Yuehua cruelly butchering Ye Kai, anger appeared on each of their faces. At the same time, Master Fengqing sent out word that Yuehua had appeared at Qingling Sect, spreading the news into the ears of righteous cultivators within a thousand li.
“Yuehua has appeared at Qingling Sect! Fellow cultivators of Qingzhou and the regions surrounding it, come quickly to subdue the demon!”
Yuehua stared coldly at Ye Kai, who was now being shielded by the twelve peak masters of Qingzhu Peak, and said: “Hand him over. This traitor—I will deal with personally.”
Hearing Yuehua’s words, Master Tianchen stepped forward.
“Yuehua, the day you slaughtered over two hundred disciples of Qingzhu Peak—was that not enough? And now again you harm the innocent—do you truly feel no remorse at all?”
But Master Qin Yao burst out: “Tianchen, what use is there in speaking to the Yuehua of today? She is already a demon—utterly and completely a demon.”
“Can demons ever repent? The righteous and the demonic are as incompatible as water and fire! Only by killing her can we restore peace to the Human Realm—only then can we avenge the disciples who died!”
Yuehua retorted sharply: “Don’t listen to the lies of this traitorous disciple of mine. The disciples of Qingling Sect who died—he was the one who killed them! My Mo’er too was framed by him. He is the one truly steeped in sin—the real demonic cultivator!”
But Master Qin Yao looked over at Ye Kai and saw only a man covered in wounds, with not a trace of demonic aura. He turned a cold gaze on Yuehua. “A demon is still a demon, best at shifting blame. Most likely that day, you held back on purpose—so your demonic disciple Lin Mo could escape, didn’t you?”
“I did not!” Yuehua’s eyes turned blood-red, demonic energy seething, her whole face twisted with madness. “It was all Ye Kai’s doing! He deserves to die—he must die!” As she spoke, an overwhelming tide of demonic qi surged again from her body.
In the blink of an eye, Ye Kai’s four limbs were twisted once more like braided crullers. Master Fengqing reacted first, swirling spiritual energy through his hand and scattering the demonic strike that was about to hit Ye Kai again. Ye Kai cursed inwardly: “These peak masters of Qingling Sect are all useless—right in front of them, they still couldn’t keep me from getting hurt.”
Master Liangyao said, “Don’t listen to her excuses. The very fact she could become a demon, after having gone through such cruelty, is proof enough.”
By then, countless righteous cultivators had gathered above Qingling Sect. They arrived just in time to see Yuehua cruelly tormenting Ye Kai. Seizing the moment, Ye Kai—his face a picture of frailty—shouted, “Fellow cultivators, do not be misled—please, you must slay this demoness! I’ve just heard that during this period she’s already taken more than ten thousand lives. If she doesn’t die, even more across the Human Realm will perish.” In an instant, the fury of the crowd ignited. “If a demoness like this doesn’t die, how can there be peace under heaven?” Cries to exterminate the demonic path resounded on all sides.
Seeing this, Yuehua felt an unspeakable fury and frustration. In the past she had known only cultivation, rarely interacting with the outside world; across the entire realm she had no true friends. She was not skilled in words and had no idea how to explain herself. She was already a demon; in the eyes of these righteous cultivators, her very existence was a mistake. No matter what she said, it was useless—the simple fact that she was a demon meant every chance to defend herself was already cut away. Thinking back, wasn’t she once just like them?
At this moment, she finally understood what Mo’er must have felt after being framed by Ye Kai: no one would listen, no one would believe him; with a crime not his own thrust upon him, the whole world had turned against him. And she, as Mo’er’s master, had not believed him either. Worse, at the very moment when he should have been executing the true sinner Ye Kai, she had struck the most fatal blow to Mo’er’s heart.
Master Yuehua knew that in this lifetime, she would probably never be able to clear away the grievances and injuries she had inflicted upon Lin Mo. But then, she suddenly laughed. “For Mo’er’s sake—today, Ye Kai must die!”
Author’s Note
…Let me be clear—I am not belittling the intelligence of the righteous path. In this world, the righteous and the demonic are fundamentally irreconcilable. Most of the righteous path hold a wholly negative tolerance for demons and demonic cultivators—and, in the same way, most demons and demonic cultivators view the righteous path just as harshly.
