“Daddy, are you leaving?” Lin Xiang’er’s face was full of reluctance, her small hands clutching tightly onto Lin Mo’s arm.
“Daddy still has matters to handle. Xiang’er, stay with your mother and spend some time in the Demon Realm.” Lin Mo crouched down, his gaze gentle as he rubbed Xiang’er’s head. For now, he needed to return to the Human Realm to deal with Ye Kai and the Lin family. Taking Xiang’er and Yan Ruyu along would be far too inconvenient.
Unlike himself, they could not cultivate both the immortal and demonic paths, nor could they completely conceal their demonic aura. If their identities were exposed, it would bring no small amount of trouble. Besides, during this period in the Demon Realm, his own strength had grown considerably. Now that he had reached the mid–Divine Transformation stage, even when facing Integration-stage old monsters, he had a good chance of victory.
“Young Master, do you truly not want people to follow you in secret?” Demon Lord Meiyan asked worriedly. At present, Lin Mo was the Demon Realm’s young master, holding exceptionally high status. As the most loyal guardian hound, she felt it was her duty to protect his safety.
“That won’t be necessary.” Lin Mo waved his hand. Too many people shadowing him would only draw the attention of powerful figures from the Upper Realm, interfering with his plan to clear his name.
“In that case, Young Master, please take this.” Demon Lord Meiyan produced a crescent-shaped protective artifact.
Wanwan, who had transformed into a little hound, crouched beside Lin Xiang’er and barked twice in surprise. This was the Meiyan clan’s supreme treasure—an artifact with the ability to leap through space.
When Lin Mo saw it, he was delighted. What he lacked was precisely a decent escape technique, and this treasure perfectly filled that gap. Seeing him accept the clan’s supreme treasure, Demon Lord Meiyan finally relaxed. So long as his cultivation had not yet reached the Great Ascension stage, no one would be able to detain her young master.
Leaving the Demon Realm, Lin Mo arrived at the border between the Demon and Human Realms. What he saw there left him utterly stunned.
“Who is it? Someone even more ruthless at killing than me?”
Corpses lay scattered across the land, not a trace of living breath remaining. Lin Mo clicked his tongue in regret—he had originally planned to come here and redeem some “regret points,” but in this situation, how could there be any left! He couldn’t tell who had acted, but their methods were shockingly cruel. Unlike him—when he killed demonic cultivators who sought trouble, he would first intimidate them, then grant a swift end. But this one… this one had hacked the bodies into grotesque pieces. Truly perverse.
At this point, Lin Mo had reached the Human Realm. His first thought was to pay a visit to the Lin family. As he traveled on, he noticed countless righteous cultivators flying in the same direction, and he grew puzzled. He quickly blocked the path of a young male cultivator.
“Fellow Daoist, may I ask—why are you all in such a hurry? Has something happened?”
The young man gave Lin Mo a quick look. Seeing his white robes fluttering elegantly, his immortal aura brimming, he recognized him as a righteous cultivator as well and promptly explained: “Fellow Daoist, do you not know? Over at Qingling Sect, the Suppression of Demons Assembly is being held!”
“The Suppression of Demons Assembly?”
“That’s right. Over a year ago, Qingzhu Peak’s master Yuehua of Qingling Sect fell into demonic ways, cruelly slaughtering more than two hundred disciples. Those disciples died in utter misery—their spiritual essence drained, their corpses left as dried husks! And now she has returned to Qingling Sect, where the nearby righteous cultivators are jointly besieging her.
“As cultivators, it is our heavenly duty to eradicate demons and uphold the Dao. Naturally, I too must join in and help bring down that fiend!” The young cultivator spoke with passionate fervor, his blood boiling with righteous indignation.
Lin Mo glanced at him and said coolly, “Fellow Daoist, you’re only at Foundation Establishment, and yet you dare to join in besieging that demon?”
The man laughed. “While I may not be able to contribute much, I can at least go and add to the numbers. I heard that quite a few Soul Splitting experts are already present at the scene, and even several elders from top-grade sects of the Upper Realm have come. Those are all great powers at the Divine Transformation stage—surely they can handle one demon?”
Lin Mo chuckled. “Oh, so you’re just part of the peanut gallery!” Indeed, no matter the world, there were always those who loved to join in the commotion.
Who would have imagined—even Yuehua would one day face this? Of course, he knew that the disciples of Qingling Sect who had died were all killed by Ye Kai. But since Yuehua had already been branded a demon, those righteous cultivators would never listen to her explanation. Wasn’t this the same as my own situation back then? Lin Mo sneered coldly in his heart.
No wonder—ever since earlier along the way, he had constantly been receiving system prompts of regret points credited. Surely, all these regret points were coming from Yuehua. And the number was no small amount either—nearly a hundred thousand! Still, he wasn’t surprised. His connection with Yuehua was far from ordinary. With regret of the same magnitude, the amount of regret points he could harvest from her would naturally be far greater than from anyone else.
“Fellow Daoist, your bearing is extraordinary—you must also be a disciple of a prestigious sect. Why not join me in witnessing the fall of this demon?” The young cultivator invited Lin Mo warmly.
Lin Mo did not refuse. He had already sensed that Ye Kai was also near Qingling Sect. With so many people gathered, this was the perfect chance to properly clear his own name.
On Yuehua’s side, her situation was dire. A group of righteous cultivators launched their assault against her. Even though she was a late Soul Splitting–stage True Demon, she couldn’t break through their barrier. Most importantly, she could not bring herself to kill these righteous cultivators.
All she wanted was to slaughter demons. Even though she had become a demon herself, the ridiculous sense of justice in her heart had never disappeared. The crowd, however, didn’t believe Yuehua was holding back. They didn’t think a demon would ever show mercy. Seeing her covered in wounds, many people began shouting:
“This demon is already weakening! Fellow Daoists, press harder and strike her down again!”
“Yes, kill her, and return peace to this world!”
“This fiend, guilty of countless crimes—at last she will face justice today. Truly a blessing for the mortal realm!”
Amid the crowd, hidden behind Qingling Sect disciples, Ye Kai sneered coldly. So what if Yuehua has become a demon? She’ll still fall at my hands. If I could scheme to kill her once, I can kill her a second time.
He grinned hideously.
“Sisters, look—this man’s smile is disgusting!” one of the nearby female disciples whispered.
Indeed, the Qingling Sect’s female disciples, seeing the grotesque grin plastered on Ye Kai’s ugly face, instinctively scattered, avoiding him as though he were a plague god.
“Senior Sister Bai Ling, it’s me, I’m Ye Kai…”
Catching sight of a familiar, graceful figure among the crowd, Ye Kai eagerly stepped forward to greet her.
“Ye Kai?” Bai Ling frowned. She didn’t have much of an impression of this man. Even when Yuehua had shouted his name earlier, she hadn’t realized who it was. The only impression she had was from the incident involving Lin Mo at Qingling Sect.
The man Lin Mo had sworn to kill at all costs was someone named Ye Kai. Thinking back, his appearance did somewhat resemble the ugly man before her now.
“Yes, yes, Senior Sister Bai Ling, that’s me,” Ye Kai pressed eagerly, trying to cozy up to her.
This Senior Sister of Dashifeng Peak was indeed quite beautiful. Back when he was still at Qingzhu Peak, he had already lusted after Bai Ling’s beauty.
“We’re not familiar—don’t get so close to me.” Bai Ling waved him off in disgust.
Ye Kai’s revolting appearance made her feel nauseated. Embarrassed in front of everyone, a flash of viciousness flickered in his eyes. This woman—once Yuehua is finished off by these righteous cultivators, I’ll be sure to teach her a lesson!
Before long, Yuehua was sealed within a formation by two Divine Transformation–stage cultivators from the Upper Realm working together.
“Fellow Daoists at the Soul Splitting stage, lend us your strength!”
“Work with us to control the formation and grind this demon to death!”
In just a short while, Yuehua was completely restrained by the power of the formation. Seeing Ye Kai outside, grinning as he watched her, her heart surged with fury and unwillingness. Slowly, she felt her life force slipping away.
No matter how she struggled, she was powerless. Her great vengeance had yet to be avenged. She had not slaughtered the demonic cultivators of the world, had not repaid what was owed to her Mo’er—she couldn’t even kill a petty villain like Ye Kai. Even though she had already become a demon, she was still this helpless.
With that thought, she slowly closed her eyes, awaiting death’s arrival.
