V2 Chapter 32: The Calm Before the Storm

“Yanyan, want some roast tiger meat?”

“Roast tiger meat? Sure!”

“As long as it’s meat, I’ll never say no.”

On the other side of the wall of fire, the young clan leader of the Lihu Tiger Clan watched Qu Ruyan drooling at him and instinctively backed up several steps.

To be honest, Qu Ruyan in her beast form looked extremely imposing.

Compared to her dazed, cutesy human appearance, this form radiated a vicious hunter’s aura from the inside out.

Lin Mo crooked his finger. A ball of flame formed and slipped out through the fire wall, flying toward the young Lihu Tiger Clan leader.

“I want to see just how strong your fire really is.”

The young Lihu Tiger Clan leader was hot-blooded and arrogant by nature.

His palm turned into a tiger’s paw, and his sharp claws, gleaming with a cold light, swiped straight at the incoming flame. Five streaks of silver light tore the fireball apart in an instant. He flicked his paw in what he thought was a very dashing manner, his face full of disdain. “So this is all that flame can do? That’s it?”

The others stared at him, eyes wide, filled with shock. Seeing this, the young Lihu Tiger Clan leader grew even more pleased with himself. “Just basic stuff, nothing to fuss over.”

Though his mouth said that, he was extremely satisfied inside.

Qu Ruyan stared at him in the same shock. “Little Black Tiger, you’re amazing!”

The young Lihu Tiger Clan leader thought that handsome move just now had completely won Qu Ruyan over, and he was quite smug. “It’s nothing.”

Qu Ruyan reverted to her human form, took out chopsticks and a plate from her storage ring, and quietly looked at him. “It’s good if it’s nothing.”

The young Lihu Tiger Clan leader was baffled. “What are you taking those out for?”

Qu Ruyan said innocently, “Of course I’m getting ready to eat.”

“And also, doesn’t it feel hot?”

“But it smells so good.”

The more he listened, the more confused he became.

Only when the maid beside him reminded him did he snap out of it.

“Young Master, your hand…”

“Hand? What hand?”

The young Lihu Tiger Clan leader finally lowered his head.

He saw that his entire arm was wreathed in thin tongues of flame.

Waves of fragrance drifted to his nose on the breeze.

He even blurted out without thinking, “Smells great…”

“No, wait!”

Once it hit him, his whole face twisted in shock.

“Why is my arm burning and I can’t feel a thing?”

Lin Mo, looking like there was no need to thank him, said blandly, “I was afraid your screaming would be too unpleasant, so I didn’t let you feel the pain.”

He even thoughtfully added, “If this flame isn’t extinguished, it’ll keep spreading along your arm until it covers your whole body.”

The young Lihu Tiger Clan leader’s expression changed drastically.

He hurriedly roused his demonic qi, trying to smother the flames on his arm.

Clang.

Sensing demonic qi, the fire burned even fiercer.

Sweat began to bead on his forehead. He shouted at the people around him, “What are you idiots standing there for? Anyone who can use water spells, get over here and help!”

A maid who knew water arts stepped forward and cast a water technique.

To everyone’s surprise, the water couldn’t put out the flames on his arm at all.

The Devouring Clan chieftain said, “I already warned you. This isn’t ordinary fire. Normal water can’t put it out.”

The young Lihu Tiger Clan leader said anxiously, “Then what do I do? Am I supposed to just watch this fire burn me to ashes?”

“That’s easy!”

The one speaking was Qu Ruyan.

“You can just cut off your arm!”

Her face was still all innocence, but there was a trace of anticipation in her eyes.

The flames had already climbed up the arm and were about to reach his shoulder.

Gritting his teeth, the young Lihu Tiger Clan leader steeled himself and used his other hand to brutally hack off the arm that was already roasted through.

Qu Ruyan reacted quickly, holding out the plate to catch the severed paw.

Then she couldn’t wait another second before taking a bite. The rich aroma of meat burst in her mouth, and a satisfied smile spread across her face. “Tiger meat is really delicious too.”

Seeing this scene, the young Lihu Tiger Clan leader felt a jumble of emotions.

Even his fur was trembling.

Anyone would feel awful watching a piece of their own body get treated as food right in front of them.

Kun Yu thought of himself—how he’d almost been targeted by this gluttonous girl before—and shuddered in belated fear.

Fortunately, they were on the same side.

He couldn’t help sighing. “So that’s why she took out the plate earlier—she was getting ready for this.”

Even though he’d already lost one arm, the young Lihu Tiger Clan leader still felt a pang of heartache.

His clan did have strong regenerative abilities, but regrowing an arm would still cost a lot of time and resources. More importantly, it would be inconvenient for him in all sorts of ways.

Suddenly, his maid’s terrified voice sounded again.

“Young Master, Young Master, your left hand is burning too!”

He jerked his head down. Sure enough, the left hand that had just chopped off his right arm was now also on fire.

Kun Yu watched with glee. “Stupid tiger, we already told you that strange flame spreads like crazy. Now look, you’re going to lose both paws.”

Qu Ruyan had just finished gnawing on one tiger paw and was still unsatisfied. Seeing this, she said excitedly, “Great, I can have seconds.”

“Um, Little Black Tiger, you already cut off one paw, that’s pretty pitiful. I’ll help you cut off the other one.”

The young Lihu Tiger Clan leader: “…”

Before he could answer, Qu Ruyan somehow produced a high-quality great cleaver from who knew where and charged at him, thrilled.

Sensing something was wrong as the cleaver came down, he twisted his body to dodge. “Hey, why were you aiming for my leg?”

Qu Ruyan scratched her head, looking adorably clueless. “Oops, my hand slipped.”

Only, as she said it, she was still drooling.

How could he not realize she was doing it on purpose now?

His opinion of Qu Ruyan changed completely.

This wasn’t some silly, sweet, innocent girl—cut her open and she was black to the core.

He hurriedly had the maid beside him chop off his remaining left paw.

And that left arm also became Qu Ruyan’s second helping.

Having decisively severed both arms, the young Lihu Tiger Clan leader had no will to keep fighting.

He withdrew with his maids.

The Devouring Clan chieftain, unable to get past the wall of fire, could only watch Qu Ruyan leave.

After polishing off both tiger paws, Qu Ruyan was still not satisfied. “Senior Brother, can we go catch some more tiger meat later?”

Lin Mo laughed. “Not eating snake meat anymore?”

Qu Ruyan nodded. “Not for now. I think tiger meat tastes really good too.”

On the other side, the already-retreated young Lihu Tiger Clan leader wore a face full of resentment. “I’ll get my revenge for losing my arms today. Sooner or later, I’ll make that lofty bitch wish she were dead and force her to bear a whole litter of my brats.”

As he spoke, he looked at the two beautiful maids beside him.

“Little Li, Little Yu, tonight you two will have to take the initiative.”

The two maids exchanged a glance, then smiled at the same time.

“Young Master, I’m afraid you won’t be getting that revenge…”

The young Lihu Tiger Clan leader snapped, “You two, what’s that supposed to mean?”

The next moment, a pair of delicate hands pierced straight through his chest.

“Because you have to die here.”
